    Readers and writers are those we most had in mind when designing the Classifieds section. Therefore, we offer very nice rates for writers to post classifieds. You can advertise in the following categories:

    For Hire

    Writers can list themselves for hire as a freelance writer, freelance proof-reader, independent tutor, or freelance translator. In addition to your 20-word-or-fewer classified, please provide an email address or website.

    The “For Hire” section is not advertised on social media, but appears in the issue.

    Rates

    10 USD. This fee may be waived if you are an inhabitant* of the African continent, the Indian subcontinent, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, an American Indian reservation, an Indian reserve (aka Native reserve or First Nations reserve), or any of the following countries: Afghanistan, the Comoros, the Gaza Strip, Haiti, Iraq, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, the West Bank, or Yemen.

    New Books:

    We love promoting new books. In addition to your 20-word-or-fewer classified appearing in an upcoming issue, we will promote your book through social media. Previous/current contributors’ new books will be announced directly through Facebook and Twitter–and regardless of whether you have contributed writing, we will Like the Facebook Page/App of your Book (if applicable) and your Writer Facebook Page/App (if applicable). We will also Follow the Twitter accounts of you and/or your book (if applicable), and tweet them on Follow Friday/#FF.

    We may also choose to make your Book and/or Writer Page on Facebook a Featured Like at our sole discretion.

    Writers can advertise their own new works of poetry, literary fiction, creative nonfiction, or literary translation from a non-English language into English.

    The book must be no more than 6 months old at the time of the issue’s publication (so for Fall 2011 Issue 2, due out in November, the book would have to have been released in May 2011 or later).

    The copy of the classified itself must contain no details about the Publisher–the Publisher must take out the ad for that to happen.

    The books may be print full-lengths, print chapbooks, e-books, free e-books, or free online books.

    Free Online Books or Free E-books:

    There cannot be a “catch” to these–they must be free and readily available. You will need to provide a link in addition to your 20-word-or-fewer classified.

    If you have Facebook Pages and/or Twitter accounts for your book and/or yourself as a writer, please also provide these details.

    Rates

    5 USD. This fee may be waived if you are an inhabitant* of the African continent, the Indian subcontinent, the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, an American Indian reservation, an Indian reserve (aka Native reserve or First Nations reserve), or any of the following countries: Afghanistan, the Comoros, the Gaza Strip, Haiti, Iraq, Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, the West Bank, or Yemen.

    Non-Free E-books:

    In addition to your 20-word-or-fewer classified, provide 1 link to where it is for sale, and, if applicable, 1 promotional website/blog. If you have Facebook Pages and/or Twitter accounts for your book and/or yourself as a writer, please also provide these details.

    Rates

    Two alternative ways of paying:

    1. 2x the list price of the e-book.
    2. One copy of the e-book + the list price of the e-book.

    Print Books (less than 50 pages in length):

    Also known as “chapbooks.” We do not advertise free print books (sorry). In addition to your 20-word-or-fewer classified, provide 1 link to where it is for sale, and, if applicable, 1 promotional website/blog. If you have Facebook Pages and/or Twitter accounts for your book and/or yourself as a writer, please also provide these details.

    Rates

    Two alternative ways of paying:

    1. 2x the list price of the book.
    2. Two copies of the book (at least 1 of them signed).

    Print Books (50 or greater pages in length):

    Also known as “full-lengths.” We do not advertise free print books (sorry). In addition to your 20-word-or-fewer classified, provide 1 link to where it is for sale, and, if applicable, 1 promotional website/blog. If you have Facebook Pages and/or Twitter accounts for your book and/or yourself as a writer, please also provide these details.

    Rates

    Two alternative ways of paying:

    1. 2x the list price of the book.
    2. 1 signed copy of the book.

    Announcements

    Previous contributors only. Won a prize? Got a new teaching job? Got signed by a big publishing house? Got tenure? We want to hear.

    Rate

    Free, we reserve the right to pick and choose which announcements to include.

    * “Inhabitant” refers to almost anyone currently residing in one of the listed areas. What it does not include is anyone serving in a country as a member of a military foreign to it, unless in a strictly medical role.
